Pixxel and Geospatial Insight Partner to leverage hyperspectral data for advanced climate intelligence and environmental applications

Birmingham, United Kingdom, Los Angeles, California, and Bengaluru, India, 12 February 2025: Pixxel, a US-India-based space technology company building the world's highest-resolution hyperspectral satellite constellation, today announced a partnership with Geospatial Insight, a recognised leader in geospatial data analytics for climate intelligence.

Under this collaboration, Geospatial Insight will incorporate data from Pixxel’s 5m hyperspectral satellites into its comprehensive climate intelligence stack. This includes applications across risk monitoring, emissions reduction, and low-carbon solutions.

Leveraging Pixxel’s hyperspectral data, Geospatial Insight will develop cutting-edge solutions to baseline and measure carbon sequestration, delivering high-quality carbon credits to a growing international client base. Furthermore, Pixxel’s dataset will be integrated into Geospatial Insight’s GHGWatch platform, enabling advanced analytics for greenhouse gas monitoring and air quality assessments.

Beyond climate applications, the collaboration offers the potential to expand into infrastructure projects, providing enhanced ESG planning, risk mitigation, and sustainable development solutions for Geospatial Insight’s clients.

“Integrating Pixxel’s hyperspectral data into our GHGWatch service supports our customers as they drive to reduce emissions, providing vital intelligence to help them define strategies to cut methane emissions and supporting their compliance to environmental standards and regulations”, said Dave Fox, CEO, Geospatial insight

"Geospatial Insight and Pixxel share a deep alignment in mission and core values," said Awais Ahmed, Founder and CEO of Pixxel. "Our partnership combines Pixxel's cutting-edge hyperspectral technology and Geospatial Insight's innovative geospatial intelligence solutions to tackle some of the most pressing global environmental challenges. Together, we aim to build a health monitor for the planet, delivering insights that drive sustainability and resilience against climate change."

"We are excited to enhance Geospatial Insight’s robust analytics suite with hyperspectral data and unlock the next frontier in environmental monitoring," said Aakash Parekh, Chief Commercial Officer at Pixxel. “Their highly specialised expertise across AI, GIS and remote sensing, along  with their mature product stack, makes them an ideal early adopter to showcase the true potential and diverse applications of hyperspectral’s narrowband indices.”

Pixxel just successfully launched three of its commercial hyperspectral satellites, Fireflies, aboard SpaceX’s Transporter-12. This launch marks the first phase of Pixxel’s commercial constellation, with three additional Firefly satellites scheduled to launch in Q2 2025. Together, these satellites will deliver comprehensive, real-time data collection and analysis across 150+ spectral bands at 5m resolution and 40 km swath width with a daily revisit rate. These unique features allow for robust change detection across vegetative and environmental characteristics, empowering solution providers to develop highly nuanced indices.

Pixxel has raised US$95 million and works with 50+ early adopter customers worldwide. Combined with flexible tasking, simplified pricing, and a customisable band set selection, Pixxel’s technology is set to enhance the accuracy and diversity of Geospatial Insight’s product offerings.
